We had a great bicycle ride and pub crawl around Hitchin last night.

We started off at The Three Moorhens in Hitchin, over to The Red Lion in Hitchin, then to The Strathmore Arms in Saint Paul’s Walden, looped around Whitwell and Preston to finish at The Millstream in Hitchin.

Beautiful weather and a good turnup!

Tobias, the Hitchin Round Table chairman, is trekking 100km though the Swedish mountains for PROSTATE CANCER UK.

I lost my father to prostate cancer two years ago. I still miss him daily and the loss affected me severely. I want to see further research in the field and better support for relatives.

To raise money, I am trekking in the Swedish mountains, 200K above the arctic circle. The route is 110km long and takes me and the other participants through some of the most beautiful landscapes the North has to offer. My dad tried to walk the route some years ago, but cut the route short.”

If you would like to support Tobias’, and contribute to the research to prevent and treat prostate cancer, visit the JustGiving page for the event. Any little helps!

We joined up with Letchwort Round Table for a few pints and pizza at the Garden City Brewery in Letchworth.

We also had the opportunity to get a tour of the facilities and check out their equipment and discuss their process.

About Garden City Brewery:

”We are a very small team and are extremely grateful to friends and family for pitching up with paintbrushes and power tools to help us make our dream of bringing Letchworth breweed-ales to the masses a reality.

We’ve still got a few jobs to do around the place but have been overwhelmed with local support from the outset from our fabulous customers many of whom visit us very regularly to see what’s on offer, have a chat and enjoy a pint of  their favourite new local beer. It’s been a great journey so far and a big thank you to all of them!’

We are at “RAW” (Round Table Away), visiting Tallinn, Estonia for the weekend. A beautiful medieval old city filled with good bars and night clubs. Today, we are all full of bruises after this mornings paintball session.

RAW is now on its third year and we’re hoping to keep up this new tradition. If you’re interested in joining us for our bi-weekly events then drop us a message. Round Table is open for men between 18-45.

Yesterday, we handed over our donations to Garden House Hospice, which we raised through the Christmas collections in Hitchin.

Garden House Hospice Care provides a wide range of services for patients, their carers, and families facing a life limiting illness.

Free specialist palliative care is provided for over 500 adults a year living with advanced cancer, motor neurone disease or other life limiting illness in our community of 230,000 people in North Hertfordshire, Stevenage, Royston and surrounding villages.

They need to raise over £3 million in total income every year so that they can run their services.

If you want to know more about Garden House Hospice, then read more on their website at http://www.ghhospicecare.org.uk.
